The
Clinical Research Unit (CRU) is funded by the
National Center for Research
Resources, National Institutes of Health (NIH) to serve as
a Johns Hopkins institutional focus for clinical research and
clinical research training. The objective of the CRU is to provide
the clinical research infrastructure to investigators who receive
their primary research funding from the other components of the
NIH. The CRU may host investigations funded by other federal,
state and local agencies and by the private sector. The CRU
also supports a limited number of pilot studies based on scientific
merit and available resources.
Major Areas of Investigation
The CRU supports studies involving, not limited to,
aging, cardiovascular diseases, endocrinology and metabolism,
allergy and immunology, psychiatry and behavioral sciences, and
pulmonary diseases. Personnel are especially trained to
meet individual protocol requirements. The CRU encourages
multidisciplinary
clinical research projects.

of the cause, progression, prevention, control and cure of human
