GCRC ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The GCRC Advisory Committee consists of 12 members, appointed by the Principal Investigator of the GCRC, Daniel Ford MD, MPH, Vice Dean for Clinical Investigation. This Committee is responsible to the Principal Investigator and is chaired by David B. Hellmann, MD, Chairman of Medicine, JHBMC. The 12 voting members represent a cross-section of the Medical Center's Divisions and are familiar with the broad elements of the GCRC research activities.

The Committee supervises and reviews all operations of the GCRC. In all cases, NIH-funded clinical research is given first priority. The Committee is also responsible for assuring implementation of existing NIH policy on the inclusion of women and minorities as study subjects.

The Committee periodically reviews Center operations to ensure that Center resources are used for the most scientifically worthy projects. It actively encourages younger faculty members to perform clinical research and assists them in applying its concepts and methods.
